About the Artist
Louise McKernan is a self-taught watercolor artist from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She spent 5 years as an Air Force Officer, then supported her husband in his Air Force career, raised three children, and worked for 15 years as a GIS Mapping Program Coordinator in Colorado Springs. She now spends her time painting, playing pickleball, and babysitting her grandkids.
Louise has always enjoyed various arts and crafts, but did not begin painting until 2015. Retirement was the gift of time, and after a couple years dabbling in different crafts and activities, she discovered her passion for watercolors and never looked back.
Her work tends to be very eclectic, but focuses mainly on animals, seascapes, and nature in general. She spends many hours painting in a corner of their rec room, either at her desk doing detailed work, or standing at her easel for more expressive pieces.
